ABOUT THE MEETING:   

There is much talk these days of distributed generation, micro-grids, islanding and the smart grid – but what do all of these terms mean and what are the repercussions to existing and future infrastructure?

Discussion:  Mega Trends in technology and their relationship to the generation, distributed generation marketplace, micro-grids, nano-grids and beyond.  An overview of the more recent FERC orders and their repercussions on the industry will also be discussed in addition to the future of the energy markets, how to utilize big data and the transformation towards IoT.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:  

Joe Kallal is Vice President of Sales for Power Analytics in Raleigh NC and has over 20 years of experience in the sales and marketing of complex electrical systems and controls.  He graduated from Penn State University with a BSEE and also holds an MBA from Santa Clara University in California.  In his role at Power Analytics Joe consults on the application and feasibility of multiple distributed generation projects around the globe and is also responsible for the overall go to market strategy for the company.

Raffel’s is located at 10160 Reading Road, south of Glendale-Milford Road on the east side of Reading. Take I-75 to the Glendale-Milford Rd. Exit, go east on Glendale-Milford Road approximately ¾ of a mile to Reading Rd. and turn right on Reading.

An email to Reservations@ieeecincinnati.org prior to the close of reservations is required to properly cancel your reservation.

 WALK-INS (those without reservations): You are welcome to attend this meeting and/or enjoy the dinner even if you did not register in advance. Walk-ins pay a higher $15 dinner fee. Raffel’s determines our cost based on the number of plates used; if you choose to have dinner, please pay the fee if you eat even if you arrive late or didn’t pre-register.

 PE CREDITS:  Depending on the subject matter, attendance at IEEE Cincinnati Section Meetings now qualifies the attendee for Professional Development Hours towards renewal of Professional Engineers Licenses. Required documentation will be available following the meeting!  The Section Meetings also provide a great opportunity to network with fellow engineers in the area.
